In May, we helped to balance 20 tonnes of carbon with the Water is Life project in Madagascar, via Net Zero Eyecare.

In the world’s area of lowest access to basic sanitation, where water is scarce and extremely vulnerable to extreme climate events, this project aims to simply give people safe water to drink.

In southern Madagascar, far too many children die every year from diarrhoea and similar water-borne illnesses. To make water potable, families usually have to boil the available water over inefficient wood fires.

This project is able to quantifiably celebrate climate impacts by removing that need to boil water to make it safe to drink; but these important climate-impacts are almost overshadowed by the real, life-saving benefits of simply providing access to clean, safe drinking water.
