We operate entirely by appointment, both for eye examinations and eyewear consultations. This enables us to give you a personalised service with all the time you need.
Our team
SARAH
The SG in SG Eyecare, Sarah has over 30 years of experience in ophthalmic care. After earning her Honour’s degree from Cardiff University, she finally settled in Wincanton in 2004 having bought the practice, simply because there was no good reason not to! Outside of work, she enjoys quiet time at home with her partner and two lazy sighthounds, sharing their aversion to running. She will, reluctantly, venture further afield on occasion to either escape in her old motorhome or assist with sound tech for her partner’s bands.
SUZI
Kent native and resident eco warrior Suzi went for an eye test one day and accidentally ended up with a career in optics. That was 20 years ago. Now a qualified dispensing optician, distance learning tutor and practice manager, she’s the person to talk to about the nerdy details of your specs (or about anything really, she loves a good natter)
EMMA
Originally joining us in 2020 for a reception role it quickly became apparent that Emma was itching to get involved in dispensing.
Managing to carry out her 3 years of training through lockdowns and ever changing restrictions was a true testament to how much passion she has for optics.
Her calm energy and endless enthusiasm, along with her encyclopaedic knowledge of our frame ranges mean that we all miss her when she takes a rare day off.
MELISSA
A latecomer to the field of optics, Melissa spent 25 years working as a complimentary health therapist in Wales before returning home to Somerset.
She joined the SG family in 2019 and aside from her amazing optical assistant skills she’s the unofficial therapist and heart of the team.
EMILY
Emily came into our lives like a force of nature (the good kind) in 2021 and quickly established herself as the most organised and capable person any of us had ever met. She will throw herself in whole heartedly to anything – whether weeding the front of the practice or performing a miraculous repair on a broken pair of specs, she never sits still!
RUTH
Ruth has been in optics for more years than she cares to admit to, although since having children she manages to get away with working part time these days.
Having worked for larger companies and multiples in the past she is much more at home here working in an independent practice – especially as she and Sarah were at university together (more years ago than EITHER of them will admit to!)
