Specialist Eye Services
Here at SG Eyecare we understand that offering excellent eyecare involves more than just eye examinations and fitting contact lenses.
We also offer a range of specialist services:
Myopia Management
If your child is already myopic, or is at high risk of myopia (short sightedness), we offer myopia management spectacles and contact lenses that correct their vision whilst also aiming to slow the progression of their myopia. Contact lens options include daily disposable lenses and overnight Ortho K lenses.
Myopia is not just an inconvenience. High myopia, a prescription of more than -6D, significantly increases the risk of potentially sight threatening eye conditions later in life. Even moderate myopia can increase this risk.
Myopia management is, unfortunately, not covered by the NHS, but we do offer monthly payment options.
Dry eye assessments
If your eyes are constantly red, gritty, irritated, sore, or even watery, you may have dry eyes. You don’t have to suffer in silence or put up with it.
Our dry eye assessments involve a detailed discussion about your symptoms and a thorough examination of the front of the eye and eyelids to determine the cause.
You will then be given a tailored dry eye therapy plan to help you get the symptoms under control and advice to help you manage the problem in the longer term.
Coloured overlay / lens testing for Visual Stress symptoms
Has your child ever complained that words don’t stay still on the page or that there are patterns or lines getting in the way when they look at a page of text? Or do they skip words or even whole lines when reading but their optometrist has said that they don’t need glasses?
Coloured overlays or coloured spectacle lenses can sometimes help relieve the symptoms of Visual Stress and make reading a more comfortable and enjoyable experience.
Visual stress is not the same as dyslexia.
People with Dyslexia may also experience symptoms of visual stress, but you can have symptoms of visual stress without having dyslexia.
Visual stress can also occur in people who suffer with migraines, or who have suffered a traumatic brain injury. In these cases, it can manifest as significant discomfort under certain types of lighting. Coloured lenses can sometimes help relieve these symptoms.
