Eye Examinations

Here at SG Eyecare we offer comprehensive eye examinations, not just quick sight tests. Your eyes and eyesight are precious and complex, and we believe that you deserve the best eye care we can offer.

Advanced Eyecare

At SG Eyecare, we use state of the art imaging technology to capture detailed images of the back of your eye

Your optometrist will take these scans themselves and take time explaining the results to you, answering any questions and helping you understand what’s going on with your eye health and how to take care of your vision.

Detecting early issues

The Optomap scans up to 80% of the back of the eye in just a few seconds, allowing us to see the periphery of the retina. Again, we can often see early signs of eye disease before they cause sight threatening symptoms.

The OCT allows us to see the central 15% of the back of the eye, including the optic nerve and macula, in 3D. It allows us to see below the surface to assess and monitor for diseases such as diabetic eye disease, glaucoma and macular degeneration in much more detail, often picking up the earliest signs of disease several years before they cause symptoms.

These advanced scans help us look after your eyes in the best way possible.

We also use an iCare tonometer to measure the pressure inside your eyes, which replaces the “puff test” that we all dislike.

Advanced Eye Exams Beyond Traditional Methods

All of your scans are automatically included with our private eye examination.

If you are entitled to an NHS sight test you will always be given the opportunity to book the more comprehensive full eye examination for a modest fee.
