Children’s Eye Care at SG Eyecare

Eye tests are recommended from age 4—or earlier if there’s a family history of eye problems or concerns. Children often can’t tell if something’s wrong with their vision, so early testing is key.

Poor Vision Can Delay Milestones

Poor vision doesn’t just impact learning—it can delay milestones like crawling and walking with the eyes playing a major role in brain development, especially up to age 10.

Children with conditions such as Autism or Down’s syndrome are statistically more likely to need vision correction or have other eye conditions such as squints (lazy eye).

Basic school screenings aren’t enough. A full eye examination with an optometrist gives a much clearer picture of your child’s eye health and is funded by the NHS until they are 18 (in full time education).

Myopia in Kids Is on the Rise

It is estimated that by 2050, over half of the UK could be short-sighted. Kids are becoming more short sighted at a younger age than ever—There is a lot of research to show that increased screen time and less time spent outdoors are two of the biggest contributing factors although family history can play a role.

If your child is myopic or at high risk, we offer personalised Myopia Management plans to help protect their vision.
