FAQs

We surveyed the whole team and the following are the most commonly asked questions. If you’ve got a burning question that we’ve missed please do get in touch and we’ll do our best to help.

Common questions

Where are all your frames?

Choosing new eyewear should be fun but standing in front of racks bursting with frames, trying to make a decision can be pretty overwhelming.

Instead, when you need a change you will have an appointment with one of our qualified dispensing opticians. Relax over a drink while they explore with you what you’re looking for and bring you a selection of suitable styles.

Our dispensing team are lens experts so you can be assured that the frames we select will be suitable for your individual prescription.

Can I just pop in and look at frames?

You can – and you’ll always get a warm welcome but we only have a small overview of our frames on display. We’d rather you booked an appointment so that we can ensure you have the time to sit down with us and enjoy the process.

We also occasionally shut for training and we’d hate you to have a wasted journey.

I’ve got an eye emergency, can you help?

Yes, we offer private emergency appointments. If you are registered with a Somerset GP then you may be eligible for an NHS funded emergency appointment with us under the ACES scheme. In the first instance, please ring us on 01963 34333 and we will advise you. Patients registered in Dorset or Wiltshire have access to alternative schemes – again, please call us and we can direct you to the appropriate place.

Do you offer NHS appointments?

Yes we do. We offer both a basic NHS sight test as well as a more involved full eye examination with Optomap and OCT imaging

The majority of our patients choose to take advantage of Sarah’s expertise and passion for the latest equipment and opt for our in-depth appointments at an additional charge of £70.

Our private appointments include all imaging as standard.

Are you a chain?

Absolutely not! We are fiercely independent and this will never change.

Do you recycle old glasses?

Yes we do – we have recycling stations for old specs and we can also take your used contact lenses.

What are your opening times?

Monday to Friday 9.30 to 1.00 and 2.00 to 5.30

Alternate Saturday mornings, strictly by appointment only.

Do you really close for lunch?

Yes. Every day between 1 and 2pm. You wouldn’t like us when we’re hangry.

Do you stock RayBan?

There are so many places supplying the big labels these days so we have chosen to focus on high quality, independent eyewear brands with a planet friendly ethos.

However, if you have a much loved frame purchased elsewhere we are very happy to glaze them for you (subject to frame condition and quality)

How much are your glasses?

We have frames from £155 with most of our ranges priced around £300.

Single vision lenses from £240 Varifocals from £550.

Why are your glasses so expensive?

The world is awash with cheap frames and lenses. Whilst we would love to cater to everyone we are not prepared to compromise the quality, ethics or environmental impact of the eyewear we supply.

If you would like to know more about any of our frame or lens brands and why we love them please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Can I bring you my prescription?

Absolutely! As long as it is recent and in date we can certainly use it. Call us on 01963 34333 and make an appointment with one of the dispensing team.

Can I get an MOT on my car?

Sadly not. We’re great at eyes but you wouldn’t want us loose on your car.

The number you need for your car is 01963 34335 – It’s short numbers round here, add an extra 3 and it defaults to us not the local garage!
